Company

Cabot Shipping Supplies was named after the explorer John Cabot who discovered this part of North America in 1497.

In 1973, Arnold and Roberta Harrington, Carson Jackson, and Bill Yates opened Cabot Shipping Supplies on Market Street in downtown Halifax. Cabot supplied all industries, mainly fishing, forestry, manufacturing and other small businesses.

Today Cabot is located at 106 Burbridge Avenue, a new office and warehouse built in 2009. Cabot now employs over 20 people and sells to Atlantic Canada and beyond.

Where Cabot started as a “Tape House”, it's now the largest packaging supplies and material handling supplier in the region. In the 1990’s, Cabot added a storage product division and has been a Rousseau Metal Dealer ever since, selling quality shelving, modular drawers, and workbenches. In 2000, Cabot added a safety catalogue to its offerings and now counts safety and personal protection as one of its largest and fastest growing lines.

Cabot Shipping Supplies is still a family-owned business, run by the second generation of the Harrington family. We pride ourselves in providing the best service possible, from the sales force to the order desk to the shipping department. We continuously try to improve in all facets of the business and strive to make your experience better each time.
